Standing up for an ideal or a cause that goes against the crowd does not bring accolades. Consider the single domino who doesn’t fall over in line. No one shouts “Hurrah! Well done!” The others grumble, “Crap! Why didn’t you go with the rest of us? Who do you think you are?” No popularity contests are won by descent. The outstanding domino has only himself to blame; only his sense of self to praise. He doesn’t think he’s anyone; he knows who he is.
