December 8th on the Catholic calendar is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mistakenly, some people think this precedes the birth of Mary’s son Jesus. Actually, the reference belongs to St. Anne’s conception of her daughter Mary. It was important that the future Mother of God be born pure.
In fact, all children are born pure. Even through abuse, sexual or otherwise, the child remains pure because whatever is inflicted on them is not their sin.
